WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I CONTACT YOU?

I reply, usually within 48 hours (unless I am out of the office), to arrange a free 10-15 minute telephone consultation.  We decide together if an assessment appointment is the right next step for you.  

 

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION SESSION? 

You would briefly share the difficulties that you would like help with and I ask some questions about your wellbeing and your hopes.  The telephone consultation is an important first step in us connecting and deciding if we can work together, and is as much about you getting a sense of whether you can work with me as vice versa.  

 

AND AFTER THE TELEPHONE CONSULTATION...?

We might set a date for an assessment appointment and check that there are mutually convenient times we can meet beyond the first session.  I then send you a range of questionnaires and information about Thrive so that you are as fully informed as possible about what to expect going forward.

 

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A SESSION?

An assessment session lasts up to three hours, whilst a regular weekly or fortnightly session will most often last 60-90 minutes. Between sessions, clients are encouraged to think about and process what was discussed. At times, you may be asked to do something specific outside of the therapy sessions.  For the therapy to "work," it is important that you are an active participant, both during and between the therapy sessions.
